Fargo Half-Marathon

I’m registered.

Brooke and I are running it and doing the Go Far Challenge. That means a 5k Friday night and half Marathon on Saturday morning. Easy-peasy and totally doable. In fact, I’m fairly confident I could run a half marathon tomorrow if you told me to. I ran 10 miles on Thursday and Monday. 3.1 more is no biggie.

Any other Tumblrs want to come and run with us?

I plan on running the Lincoln half-marathon on May 5th as well. That one should be great! Its my third Lincoln half and 2nd running with my tumblrs! Lindsay and I are going to do the Half, and Steph and Holli are going to kill their first Full Marathons.

In other news, I have so much Christmas shopping left to do its not even funny. Amazon prime, you are my friend. Thank goodness for free 3 day shipping. I’m being such a scrooge this holiday season, and I hate that. I need to get myself in gear and get it done.

Hope you all have a wonderful day friends!

Monday (so far) by the numbers:

4-As in AM, the time I woke up this morning. (I was having a very vivid dream that I was standing in a garage and there were 2 very large spiders on the wall. One of them jumped at me and came flying at me in the dream. I woke myself flailing my arms around and yelling.) I’m quite glad my roomie is in L.A. until tonight! That would have been embarrassing!

5-AM the time I actually got up. I could not fall back asleep after my dream near-miss with the spider and said ‘screw it’ and dragged my butt out of bed and onto the treadmill.

10-The number of miles I ran. (I was up and awake, and I have to get my 20 miles in for the week, might as well bang out a bunch at once, right?!)

7-Degrees it was at 5 this morning. It was crazy dark and so cold so I hit the ‘mill.

1370-the amount of calories Dailymile (friend me!) said I burned on my run this morning. I’m starving after my breakfast of a protein shake and strawberries and cream oatmeal.

2-PM the time I estimate I will hit the ‘wall’ and be freakin’ exhausted after waking up so early.

8-PM I’m fairly sure I will be in bed by this time tonight. Cross your fingers!

I hope you all have a fantastic Monday friends!

Creative Christmas cookie frosting.

I went for a run before this happened. Its chilly here, only 40°, but i got 1.5 miles in before the cold got to be too much. It’s something at least!

Strange fact about me: i like to bake and frost the cookies, but i don’t like to eat them. I’m not much of a cookie fan. I don’t even like to eat desserts i make, not even cookies. But i like to eat desserts (cookies not included) that other people make!

Vacation miles are the best kind of miles!

I have a 4 day weekend. When I woke up this morning I knew I was going to run at least 5 miles, I wanted to try to run 7 miles and hoped I could run 9 miles. That would give me my 20 miles for the week, but I wasn’t sure I had it in me.

Apparently, I did! It’s amazing what a good night of sleep will do for you! I got to 8 miles and felt great so I kicked it up from 5.5 miles per hour to 6.0 miles per hour and cranked out the last 2 miles to get an even 10 miles today!

21 miles for the week baby! Beast mode engaged!

Here’s the stats: first 8 miles 10:54/mile. Last 2 miles 10:00/mile.

Now I’m heading out to Christmas shop!
Have a fantastic day friends!

The view out my window this morning. I live in the basement so my view is a little skewed. But isn’t that a gorgeous sunrise? It’s supposed to be 64° here today, but we are expecting snow on Sunday.

I’m on track to hit my 900 miles this year. I ran 5 Miles on Monday and a 10k last night. The goal is 3 Miles tonight and maybe 7 on Thursday. We shall see.

Today is my Friday! It’s use it or lose it time for vacation and i have 6 days left. So i don’t have to work any full weeks for the rest of the year!

Have a great day friends!

Well now…

So my goal of 20 miles per week is not going to be reached this week. I’m so close; 17 miles for the week. I can’t blame anyone but myself. And honestly I’m not that sad about it. I couldn’t get up and run Friday morning, I was too tired. So I decided I would run a few miles Friday night-seeing as I had no plans for the evening. So I eked out 2 miles on the treadmill before I called it quits. I don’t do evening runs. Its either early morning or nothing at all for me.

I did 5 miles on Saturday and then headed into work. It was hot here yesterday–80 degrees! But today? Its only 34 degrees! Gotta love Nebraska!

So the new plan is to try to make up some of those miles this week…the only good thing is that there are 7.5 weeks left in the year. So if I had to make up some miles that last half week should let me do it.

I’m taking my nearly 6 year old nephew to see “Wreck it Ralph” today–I think I’m more excited than he is!

Hope you all have great days friends!

Thank you!

To everyone who liked, reblogged, commented on, sent me messages, and just generally had nice things to say about this post, thank you so much! You all made my day, heck even my week!

My journey has been amazing…and its been made even more awesome because of you guys! I have never met such cool people, either in real life or just online!

So once again, thank you! You guys rock! 🙂

160 miles

Its not that many. Its not a lot. But I’m going to run that many more miles by the end of the year.

Let me explain.

I’ve been keeping track of my miles on dailymile (friend me!) since I started seriously running last year. As of Saturday I’ve run 740 miles this year. I’ve been having some troubles staying focused on my running because I tend to do better when I have a schedule to keep. And since I don’t have any major races until the Lincoln Half-Marathon in May I don’t have anything to train for until January. So I need something to distract me. Something to keep me going. Because a wise person once said:

"Goals are dreams with deadlines.“ ~Diana Scharf Hunt

I need deadlines. I need distinct time frames that I must have things done in. So I decided that I would run 900 miles this year. With about 8 and a half weeks left in the year that works out to about 20 miles a week. Or 4 miles 5 days a week or any variation thereof. So now I have a goal. And I LOVE it. I need structure. I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that I work in TV News where you meet a hard deadline EVERYDAY. The 5pm news can’t start at 5:02 because I’m a little behind. It starts at 5pm. It actually starts at 4:59:00 here, betcha didn’t know that! 🙂 But regardless, I’m so much happier. I’ve felt like I’ve been floundering since the Chicago Marathon. I’ve needed something to focus on and it feels great that this is it.

Happy election day friends! I’m stuck at work for about 14 hours today! Hope you have a good one!
