I’ve been a shady lady

I’ve been so sporadic about posting lately, its not even funny. I appreciate you all sticking with me!

Life is good; busy, but good. There are less than two weeks until the Lincoln Half-Marathon. I’m ready. This time around I feel so much more prepared than last year. I did a 10 mile run on Saturday, and would have made it a test 13.1, but the ol’ Nebraska wind made sure that didn’t happen. 25 mph gusts are very hard to run in!

Saturday night I went to Boyz II Men in concert. My TV station GM gave me free tickets. It was awesome! I had a blast! We were only about 11 rows back from the stage.

I don’t think I’ve told you guys, my dad got another job. It involves selling Life insurance and doing a lot of traveling, which is hard for him and my mom. But they are making it work. A job is a job in this economy, right?

Speaking of jobs, I have to get back to mine. Part of the reason I haven’t posted much is because when my hours changed, I lost the time I had to blog at work. I know, I know, I’m not supposed to do that, but it was when I had the time! Also, I don’t know about you all, but after staring at a computer screen all the day, the last thing I want to do when I get home is get on my laptop and write more! But I know I need to write a pretty big post. It’s coming. I promise!

Have a great Tuesday friends! ๐Ÿ™‚

Scenes from my 12 mile long run today. It was a gorgeous day, with a strong headwind on my way back. But I made it! I found a trail I think I will use for all of my long runs for awhile. There was not another soul on it, and it was flat and peaceful! Loved it! Happy Easter friends!

My weekend starts Now!

I don’t get any extra days off for Easter…the news doesn’t sleep! But I’m so glad its Friday. Its gorgeous outside, I have fun plans filling my entire weekend, and a 12 mile run scheduled for Sunday where its supposed to be 72 and sunny. No wind!

Like the song says, “sometimes, I get a good feelin.’”

Life is good friends! Have a fantastic weekend!

I’m still here!

Life is busy! I’ve found that as the weather gets warmer I am having a harder time finding time to write. Between training for the Lincoln Half-Marathon (I ran 11 miles yesterday. On the treadmill. It was 90 degrees outside!) and enjoying life, spending time with my friends and family, time has been slipping away from me! I’m sorry!

Life is chugging along nicely. I’m happy and things are going very well right now!

Last week, my mom and I took a 3 days off and did a economic stimulating! I bought 3 new dresses, 3 new skirts, 5 new shirts, 2 new pairs of capris, 2 new pairs of shoes and some other things! Everything is size XS or S! How did I get that tiny? It’s hard to believe sometimes.

I hope you all have a great week friends!

Today’s run sucked

I had a 15K or 9.3 miles on the schedule. I ran 10 miles last Sunday, in warmer, more windy weather, so today’s run should have been easy.

No dice.

I fought for each step of each mile and and only made it 6.2 miles of the the 9.3 I was supposed to run. But that’s ok…that’s why I start training a few weeks early, so I have these crappy runs and can adjust for them. It just means the rest of my runs this week will be great runs, right?

I have also learned a valuable lesson; running on not enough sleep doesn’t work for me. And don’t try to do a long run the day after I do hill work. My quads were screaming at me the entire time.ย

It was not a good run.

And something very odd happened. I had stopped in the park to rest. My quads were killing me, I had a stitch in my side and I needed a break, so I rested about 5 minutes. There is a bathroom about 30 feet away from the bench I was on and I decided I was going to refill my water bottle if it was open, so I got up and ran over to it. During the entire time I was sitting there, no one had come over to the bathroom or in or out of it. So imagine how freaked out I was when I was running past one of the doors that was cracked open a bit and I saw a person standing there, staring at me through the crack! I let out a yelp and immediately took off flying! I didn’t look back, I just ran away as fast as I could! How freaky is that!?

On the plus side, the weather here is perfect! 80 degrees, low humidity, a breeze and no clouds in the sky. Just wall-to-wall blue skies and sunshine. Perfection.

In other news, I went to see The Hunger Games last night. I haven’t read the books and really have no desire to. The movie was decent. I didn’t really want to see it, but my friend did, so I went along.ย

I only work Monday and Tuesday this week. My mom and I are taking 3 days off for a long girls weekend. We are going to go shopping in Omaha, see some friends and just have a great, relaxing time. I’m super excited! It doesn’t hurt that our News consultant will be here those days to meet with people and try to make them better at their jobs, and I won’t have to meet with him! I’ve done that before. It doesn’t help! ๐Ÿ™‚

So, I hope you all have a great week friends!ย

Life Update

So I’ve been MIA for awhile. Sorry about that. But there’s been good reason for that, I promise! I told you a few weeks ago that I changed hours at work. I now work 8:45am to 5:45pm which is nice…but I produce the Midday and 5pm news now, which means I hit the ground running the instant I walk in the door. I had it pretty easy before; about 7 hours to produce a 30 minute show that aired at 5pm. So I suppose I deserve this!

Its not so bad, and I really like getting off work early!

I’m in the middle of training for the Lincoln Half-Marathon (this will be my 2nd one!) I had my 10 mile run last Sunday. It was hot, humid, and windy, but I survived and I shaved some time off the last time I ran 10 miles last year! Small victories, right? I did manage to get a sunburn because it was 80 degrees and super sunny out!

Life is chugging along nicely. I’m in a good place. I’ve maintained my 150 pound weight loss since I hit that magic number in October..so that makes me very happy! My doctor has said that I’m not allowed to lose any more weight, just maintain. What a concept!

The weather is fantastic here this weekend! I hope you have a great one friends! ๐Ÿ™‚

Redemption Sunday!

Yesterday’s run was no good. In fact Amyย declared it “sucky run Saturday.” So I know I wasn’t alone in my terrible, awful, no good run.

So I just forgot about it. How my stomach hurt, how I couldn’t run even 4.5 miles. How I fought with everything I had to just eke out 3.1 miles. And you know what? Today’s run rocked!

9 miles. On the treadmill. (It was raining and cold) and I don’t want a cold so I suffered on the treadmill. I stopped once to refill my water bottle and another time to use the restroom, but otherwise, this run was great!

By the numbers:

9 miles.

1:32:42

Ave. pace: 10:18

First 7 miles I ran at a 10:31 pace, the last 2 at a 9:31 pace.ย

It was hard, but not so hard that I didn’t think that if the half marathon was tomorrow, I could run it all, no problem. Good thing I’ve still got about 2 months!ย

I just looked back at my dailymile stats from last year when I was training for my first half marathon: Today I shaved off 21 minutes from the last time I ran 9 miles nearly a year ago!ย

Have a great Sunday friends! ๐Ÿ™‚
