Let’s Catch Up

Selfies with Rio. That dog cracks me up. She was excited that I sprung her from the vet. We took a few selfies and snapchats then went home to snuggle.

The Vet’s Office had that as their sign. I actually stopped the car and came back around to take that picture. Because I LOL’d and when that happens you must stop and take the photo.

New Christmas Sweater. It’s the style that is supposed to be big and loose on my frame. I was a bit nervous about it, but I like it. It is warm and cozy. I’m a fan. I’m also wearing jeans that are a size smaller than I’ve been wearing for the past 6 months or so because of the relationship weight gain.

So that leads me to this…

Fun Fact: (Will this get me kicked out of the Fitblr category for this??) I actually LOST weight over Christmas. Like 4 pounds down. So weird. I don’t even know.

Running. Running and I are trying to get back into a good relationship. I sign up for the Lincoln Half on Sunday and I will start training at the end of the month so I really need to get my stuff together. Like now. Note to self, the longer you don’t run, the harder it will be to actually get back into the habit. So, GO RUN MELISSA! NO EXCUSES.

Life is humming right along right now. Work is good. I really enjoy all the things that I get to do, and I love the people I work with.

Have a great (short!) week friends!

2 miles on the treadmill. They were awful miles that made me think that I’ve completely lost all of my fitness, so there’s that.

Then I saw that @theholidayhustle gave us 75 jumping jacks so that is my face post-jumping jacks. The worst.

The good news is that there is about 19 weeks until the Lincoln Half marathon on May 1st. So I have time to get myself together and hopefully get into fighting shape fast!

Monday Things

  • Today is my beautiful Momma’s birthday. I made that collage and posted it on Facebook for her. She’s the best mom ever. I lucked out.
  • I hung out with the Nebraska Governor again this morning for a meeting about a program. We all were introducing ourselves and when he got to me he said, “We met last Monday at the Mansion! How has your first week been? Do you like it so far?” GUYS. I’m Memorable to the Governor! How cool is that?!?!
  • We’re having a food day on Wednesday for a girl who is leaving so I’m making Cranberry bread. I might take that or I might make banana bread tomorrow. Who knows? The world is my oyster!
  • I ran when I got home from work tonight. I did not want to, but I drug myself off the couch and did it. Then I saw I had to do a bunch of lunges and squats per @theholidayhustle so now my legs are shredded and running tomorrow should be fun!
  • I’ve been struggling with running lately. It’s no secret. I’m trying to get myself together because I plan on running my 12th Half Marathon in May when I run the Lincoln Half again. See also: I want to lose about 10 more pounds. I am seriously considering hiring Sabrina because I appear to need a kick in the pants.
  • I’m considering downloading Tinder again. That is how I met my ex and I deleted it (obviously) when we were together. But then I think, do I really want to open THAT can of worms? But it appears Mr. Right isn’t going to come randomly find me so I guess I have to be a little proactive. Dating is THE WORST.

Make it a great week friends!

Holiday hustle done for the day.

2 miles running and 30 burpees. Gross. I HATE those. But I know this is just making us stronger, right @theholidayhustle? My roomie and I then went and grabbed lunch and then hit the mall for a little Christmas shopping. It was a really good last day of unemployment!

Thanks for all the well-wishes on the new gig, friends! I am so happy and excited!!

Have a great weekend!

@theholidayhustle is done for the day!

2.5 mile run and 30 sit-ups.

Also, despite how terrible I think I look when I look in the mirror, I can see from these photos and others on facebook that I do look ok. I’m not in as bad of shape as my brain thinks I am. I really need to stop listening to that voice in my head that tells me such stupid things. It’s just hard to drown that noise out sometimes.

Deep thoughts with Melissa

Friday Things

It feels like it has been so long since I’ve been able to rejoice about finally getting to Friday. It’s nice. I like it. A few things:

  • I dressed like a Lumberjack again today. I really love the plaid flannel shirts this season.
  • I managed to snooze my alarm for 45 minutes!! So I did not get up and run before work. I plan on doing it after. I’m supposed to grab dinner with a guy friend who would rather be more than friends…(I’d rather not!) so I may see if I can cancel on him (for the 3rd time!!).
  • I’m dog sitting for my roomie this weekend while she and her boyfriend go deer hunting. Their dog is so hyper, constantly jumping. He drives me nuts. I hope he’ll be chill and realize it is the weekend and that Saturday is a day for sleeping!
  • I inputed my new work address into my Google Now in my phone and it tells me commute times. It goes from a 10 minute drive to a 20 minute drive.  The struggle of mid-sized town living!! (Lincoln has 269,000 people)
  • My new job has Health Insurance AND Dental Insurance!!!! SCORE

Have a great Friday friends!
