Bloody heck, it’s hot out there. We’ll be in a heat advisory this afternoon so I decided to get some miles in before it descended on us.

That did not happen. It was hot all night long. So I slugged out 2 miles walking and running. My bf called in the middle of the run and I gratefully answered…thankful for the reprieve. The humidity is killer.

I plan on a lot of pool time today. Happy Friday friends!

The past few days my coworkers, friends, and even my massage therapist have told me there’s something different about me. That I seem happier, more mellow. More content. They all attributed it my new relationship. I’m not saying that I was unhappy before the bf came into my life, but just that I have this feeling of being happy and content exactly where I’m at in this moment. And THAT is a nice feeling. 🙂

  • Conversations with two-o-nine. She’s talking about the group Doug and the Slugs. True story: my uncle is in a cover band! He plays guitar and wears sunglasses during the sets. He’s a cool dude. They play “Americana” songs. He invited the bf and I to go to their concert this past Sunday. If it wasn’t such short notice, we were going to go watch him do his thing.
  • In other news, my massage therapist asked me if I had lost weight. I was surprised, and told her no, not that I really knew of. She said she could see it in my legs and torso. She sees me about once a month, so I’ll go with what she says! But honestly, the scale is about the same. Huh.
  • I ran again this morning before work. Success! It was hard for me to want to get out of bed–but I did it and I’m so glad that I did. It makes such a difference in my day and demeanor when I get a sweat session in before I head to work for the day.
  • Have you had those cream cheese mints at graduations, wedding receptions, etc? Well, I’m obsessed with them. I love love love them. And my coworker who got married last month had them at her wedding. This morning she brought in 2 big bags full of them to share with us. I’m debating how long I have to wait before I have some. (because we all know that I will have some!!) So, so good.

Happy Hump Day friends! Have a good one!

It’s my Friday!!!

Despite going to the Dentist this morning for a couple of fillings that turned into 3 fillings, including one replacement filling…I’m in a good mood! Especially now that the numbness has worn off! Also, I’m wearing my Sassy Pants!

  • I ran a mile after work. It was rough. It wasn’t too hot, but there is some haze here due to fires in Washington State or something like that.
  • I had a Come-to-Jesus conversation with my mom about my lack of running and lack of wanting to run. She suspects that Hanson’s burnt me out on it, and that I should listen to my body and run when I want to–not because I have to. That way I won’t kill my love of running and not quit running at the same time. That mother of mine. She’s a smart lady! 🙂
  • Speaking of Come-To-Jesus conversations, my bf thinks I have my cell phone permanently attached to my hand and it frustrates him to no end when I’m on it when we’re together. I get how irritating that is, and so I’m making an effort. Last night when we went out to dinner we both left our phones at his house. It was really nice. He wants to have technology-free dates. I kinda agree. I do think we need to be available for emergencies…but not just a random text. I’m growing here, people!! Progress!
  •  Also, I have a haircut tomorrow evening. I haven’t had it cut for about 3 months or so. It’s getting long!!
  • Also pictured are a few moments from Disney World and Universal: a selfie with Mickey, Cinderella’s Castle, Hogwarts and Butterbeer! I had a such a good time!! Vacations are the best!

Have a great rest of the day friends!

I’m Baaaccckkk!!!

  • Work Mirror selfies are back!! You’re welcome??
  • Orlando was awesome. 10/10 would do it again. I hadn’t been to Disney World in nearly 20 years (crap, I’m old!!) and it was such a good time going as an adult. However, geez, things are expensive! Universal was cool too. Harry Potter World was awesome!
  • Before we came home, my friend and I hit the outlet mall. I got that skirt from Banana for $8 and another black top (not pictured) for $8.50. Deals and Steals, friends. Deals and steals.
  • I feel disgusting. Too much of the foods that I normally NEVER let myself eat combined with raging hormones equals me up a couple of pounds (mostly water weight) and hating how I look in the mirror. Le Sigh. The mind is funny.
  • I only ran once while on vacation. But I did manage to hit my step goal nearly every day so I’ll consider that a win.
  • My boyfriend says he wants to start running with me. I’m really excited to share this with him and to do something active together. Win-Win. 🙂 I am concerned that he will be much faster than me (he’s an army recruiter and used to run 5:30 min/miles) but he had back surgery last year and hasn’t run for awhile, so I think that will give me a bit of an edge! 😉
  • I only have to work today and tomorrow then we have 4 day weekend FTW! My boss is fantastic! I’m pretty excited, especially since I could not sleep last night and saw 3 am (which felt like 4am to me!) And then I was up by 6:40–which turned into 7:30. So does that mean I got a nap last night instead of real sleep? The struggle. It’s real.

Happy Tuesday friends!

Holy Humidity Batman!

  • At 6:30 this morning it was 76 degrees…it felt like 80! I was dripping with sweat when I finished my run. It felt awesome.
  • I spent Friday-Sunday in the pool. I regret nothing.
  • My roommate got a dog. He’s a German Shepherd mix and he hates me. As in hadn’t barked or growled until he met me, but then about ripped my head off! He was home alone and under the kitchen table when I got home last night. He started growling at me when I walked into the kitchen. I’m supposed to let him out this afternoon. I don’t want to lose a finger in the process.
  • My boyfriend gave me his selfie stick for the wedding I went to this weekend and my nephews got ahold of it after church yesterday morning. I found this gem (and several others!) on my phone. I adore those boys.
  • I leave for Orlando on Wednesday. Thursday is Harry Potter World, Friday and Saturday I actually have to work…and then Sunday we’re going to the Magic Kingdom! I can’t wait!! Vacation baby! It’s going to be hot and humid in Florida–I think I’m going to pack a lot of running clothes-at least they’ll wick the sweat away!

Happy Monday Friends!

This post is important

Because running and I have been fighting lately. When my life gets busy I tend to find it hard to balance working out and everything else. So something tends to fall by the wayside. That has been running lately.

But I’ve been doing better this week: I ran a very hot and humid 2.15 miles last night after work. I got up at 6am and did another 2.15 miles this morning before work. I’m not setting any land speed records, and I’m certainly not running a lot of bulk mileage. But I’m getting out there and I’m doing something. And I consider that a win. I’m also in a good body place–I’m down 5 pounds. Yes, I’d like to lose about 5 more, but the world will not end if I don’t. I’m comfortable in my skin. And I think that’s what really matters.

A few things:

  • My roomie asked the landlords if she could get a dog. They acquiesced…adding on a $250 pet deposit and carpet cleaning. I don’t want the dog and am not paying for it nor will I pay the deposit. It’s not that I don’t love dogs, but I just don’t want the responsibility. What does that say about me as a 33 year old woman?? Whatever.
  • I bought a washer and dryer. My dad is picking them up and bringing them over on Friday. I’m actually super excited about this level of adulting.
  • I have another wedding this weekend. My co-worker is getting married. I’m wearing the dress I wore to the wedding 2 weeks ago. No shame in my game. It’s supposed to be 96 degrees on Saturday. POOL TIME!
  • In a weird way, I don’t like the first day of summer. It means that the days will start getting shorter. I’m not trying to be a pessimist…but I love the build up to most events–I have a hard time enjoying the actual event. Does that make sense? I love summer and everything about it. But I just have a hard time knowing that, eventually, winter is coming. Maybe I’m just a realist??

On that note, have a good Friday Eve friends!

Post-work run in the sun.

80° degrees, brilliant blue skies, and a bright sunny day combined for a very hot and sweaty 3.35 miles this afternoon. But it felt great to get out there and sweat!

running-matt and I were skyping yesterday. I was wearing a strapless dress and sweater but took off the sweater when I got home. Matt thought I was naked. Sorry to disappoint you Matt! 😉 Also, Matt multitasks sometimes when we Skype: he was playing videogames last night during our chat. I think I yelled “pay attention to me!” at one point. He put the controller down and listened then! 😉

Now I’m going to find something for dinner. There’s not a lot of choices…I really should go shopping!

a-yogi-who-wods is crushing my spirits

  • Christian and I are involved in our own FitBit Challenge this week. My lack of running is killing my step count. And he is crushing his. That’s irritating. Motivation for me, I guess.
  • I bought that lamp and table for $30 last night from a friend who is downsizing her home and moving into a townhome. She has pretty great taste and she cut me a sweet deal. I’m a fan.
  • The sunshine came back today! However, my Meteorologist roomie posted the above photo. Lincoln averages about 29 inches of rain a year. We’ve gotten 18 inches of rain in the last 6 weeks. So that’s awesome.
  • I’m wearing this dress today. While my co-worker and I went for a walk after lunch, a woman stopped me on the sidewalk and said to me, “that yellow dress is fabulous!” Made my day! I feel like a ray of sunshine!
  • Is Melissa that hard to understand or read in a email? I’ve been called Melinda, Martha, Natalie, Gretchen (what is THAT is about?!) and Melanie. Seriously people, look or listen a little closer! It’s not that hard.
  • I’m going running after work. I’m pretty excited about it. The weather is perfect to pound out some miles on the pavement.

Have a great Tuesday friends!
