I’m too old to stay out late on a school night.

My former sports director from my old tv station was in town so the old ochos went out for some karaoke. I blissfully sank into bed around 12:45am. That 6:30am alarm SUCKED. But I had a great time.

I ran 4 miles today! It’s the most I’ve run since the Lincoln half in May! Whoops.

Also, I’m Betty freakin’ Crocker, apron and all. I made my famous banana bread for a former coworker who is leaving the tv station.

Bad news…there’s more water in my basement. The landlords were over for awhile trying to fix it. Le sigh. I think it’s a bigger issue than just praying it doesn’t rain too much at one time! Oy.

Happy Friday friends!

OOTD and Hump Day Things

  • I ran 1 incredibly hot mile last night after work in 95 degree heat. It might have been a really dumb idea…but it felt good to move and sweat. I also did the Jillian 30 day shred. I was sweating profusely after that was over. So that’s gross.
  • At 10am it is already in the mid 80′s–we’re looking at highs in the mid 90′s again. Hello Summer! So I wore dress shorts to work today. No shame in my game.
  • That’s Broyhill fountain on the UNL campus. I went to the union to buy stamps this morning and had to talk myself out of just sitting there with my feet in the water. Maybe this afternoon?
  • Man Friend and I might hit up a College World Series game this weekend. He’s checking into tickets at work today. The CWS has been in Omaha for more than 50 years, but I’ve never been to a game. I’m not a huge baseball fan…as I’ve only ever been to 2 games in my entire life. But he enjoys it, so I said I would go.
  • I have a massage after work today! I had forgotten I had scheduled that, so I’m pretty excited. Should just be a nice and relaxing time.
  • My running shorts tan line is coming along quite nicely. You can probably see it in the photo above. So sexy.

Have a great Wednesday friends!!

Two posts in one day? What the wha??

A humid and sunny afternoon off calls for a quick run in temperatures that gave me a bit of heat exhaustion…I had goosebumps in the sun! It was not a good situation. But I came home covered in ALL THE SWEAT. Feels good.

I ran errands and bought a few household things. Time for Jillian to punish me in the 30 day shred, then dinner and who knows what with Jr. Mint man!

Have a great weekend friends!

Chub Rub & Thigh Gap

During the Lincoln Marathon last week I saw a sign that made me sad. It said,

“Chub Rub = Bad
Thigh Gap = Good
Keep running, get a thigh gap”

ARE YOU EVEN KIDDING ME?!?!!?! What kind of message is that sending to people?  I got angry with the girls holding the sign and wanted to say something. Had I not been running a race I would have. Grrr.

In other news…I started Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred last night. My friend said she has trouble walking because of the squats and lunges so I was scared. Imagine my delight this morning that I’m just a little sore…not unable-to-walk-sore. That means I’m in some sort of decent shape, right? That’s what I’m going with, anyway. Today is gorgeous, sunny and in the 70′s..I plan on running after work then shredding with Jillian afterwards.

In work news, remember how I have to raise $50k in sponsorship money for our conference this fall? Well, as of today I’m at $40,500!! Whoo-hoo!! My goal was to be at $25k by July 1st, so I think I’m doing alright! 😉 I’m feeling good about my fundraising skills.

Happy Tuesday friends! Make it a great one!

Well, that’s no good.

The Lincoln Marathon sends out info emails to all participants in the weeks before the race. This gem just popped into my inbox. Please don’t freak out two-o-nine and runningfortheriesling! We’ll be fine! In 2012 it thunderstormed until right before the race, then the skies cleared and the humidity shot through the roof. I still managed to PR my time that year! Positive thoughts!!!

The email says it will be in the upper 50′s at the start of the race at 7am, and the mid to upper 70′s by noon. (we should be long done by that point!) It gives hydration pointers and tells you flat out not to wear pants, sweatsuits, or long sleeves.

So…I’m thinking we get some Froyo Friday night AND post-race on Sunday?!??!?!

Pray for us friends. Brooke and Sam may never want to come back to Nebraska to visit me again if this race goes wrong!

Good morning lovelies!

  • How cute is that skirt? I went to the J. Crew factory outlet with mom during our days off and found that outfit. I love it! Bright orange and so sunny and cheerful.
  • I finally got my bridesmaid dress for my best friend’s wedding next month. We’re at T-27 days! No biggie-I just booked our AirBnB yesterday! The dress fits perfectly. I wasn’t sure if I should go with the 8 or the 10, but the 10 was way too big and the 8 fits like a glove, no alternations needed. Success!
  • I also realized that as Maid of Honor, I should probably start working on my speech. We’ve been best friends since we were 5 so I have years and years of material to work with, but each time I try to think my mind goes blank. The struggle.
  • I had a pretty great Easy 4 miles last night. I wish every run could feel like that one: effortless and easy. The best kind of run.

It’s Tuesday. I’ve been in to work since 7am. I’m so very tired. Have a great day friends!

Oh hey there Monday!

  • Instead of taking PTO for Friday, I’m just going in an hour early Monday through Thursday this week and then I’m leaving at 11am Friday morning to get Sam from the airport (I think runningfortheriesling gets into Lincoln at noon?) two-o-nine and Andrew will roll into town at some point in the morning–TBA at this point. CANNOT WAIT!
  • I don’t know why I’m saving my PTO–I get 180 hours a year, and that doesn’t include holidays or the 2 weeks that I get paid off at Christmas. Best job ever, or best job ever?!
  • The struggle to get up this morning was REAL. I decided that today could be a second day hair kind of day. I think it still looks alright–albeit a little flat! But it’s amazing how much faster I can get ready when I don’t have to wash and dry my hair!
  • I’m going to Orlando in June for a work conference. My co-worker is coming with me and we’re making a mini-vacation out of it–we’re going out one day early and staying one day late so we can hit Disney and Harry Potter World. I’m ridiculously excited!! A vacation that’s not surrounding a half marathon? Who am I?!?!
  • My phone battery had been draining pretty rapidly and I was concerned. Turns out I had left the High Accuracy mode on, so it would find my location fast. I turned it off, and viola! Magic! It doesn’t drain so fast. Good stuff.
  • I’m fairly sure I’m being Ghosted by the guy I went out with on a 2nd date with on Friday night. I’m not sure why, and I guess I don’t know for sure, but still, it sucks to be rejected and ghosted. Ugh.
  • HOWEVER! Things were fun with last night’s date. I’m not sure when I’ll see him again (maybe May 11th?) as we’re both crazy busy the next few weeks. He did straight up ask me when he could see me again. I like that. A lot. More guys should do that kind of thing. Confidence is sexy. But regardless, I enjoyed his company last night! 😉
  • runningforbiscuits commented on how flat Nebraska is. Well..it is, and it isn’t. The marathon route is mostly flat–but here’s the elevation chart:

When Brooke, becky-balances and getittogetherg were here in July for the Brownville Half, they all commented on how hilly Nebraska really is. I like to think of it as rolling hills. Mile 9 is where I hate myself for running this race. Every. Single. Year.

Happy Monday guys! Make it a great week!
