And the world isn’t going to end. Taking care of myself is more important that 5 easy miles on the treadmill tonight. I had deluded myself into thinking I could run when I got home from work. I reasoned that since I was going to work I would be fine to run. Nope. Not happening.

The cough has gotten worse. So much so, that I started hacking while on the phone to one of our Member Institutions and couldn’t stop coughing. I couldn’t even get the words out to apologize. Water wouldn’t even help. My eyes started watering, making my mascara run. It wasn’t pretty. I managed to croak out something that the woman could understand and we hung up. Oy.

In fun news, one of our members called to renew his membership today and he had an accent. I’m a sucker for those. We actually have a few members who are from England who live in the states, and some of our Member institutions are in England, Greece, Puerto Rico, and The Netherlands, so I’ve gotten to talk to a lot of people (read: men) with some pretty sexy accents. It always kills me to talk to these guys. As I was getting his information and asking questions, I told him I had one more very important question for him; where did he get his lovely accent from? He laughed and said he was from outside of London and now lived in Maryland. Then he emailed me later and addressed me like we were besties. Member relations and communications 101 with Melissa: make ‘em comfortable and compliment them. It works like a charm, but only if you really mean it!

I’m hoping for a chill night out with some friends from the Ocho and then early to bed.
