5 inches and it’s still coming down.
I am working from home, and glad I am because power is out at work and my coworker who made it in says it’s getting chilly there!

This is a wet heavy snow…And it’s crazy windy! Of course I can’t remote into my work computer, but I’m making it work! I’ve already done work today in my pjs, from my bed. That’s a win.

Officials are saying don’t travel if you don’t have to. So I’m going to stay put.
Too bad the satellite is out too…;)

What a difference 24 hours makes!

We’re at about 7 inches of snow and it’s still coming down. I’m not even going to try to shovel until later. My street is plowed because I live directly across from a hospital so I’m on a snow route. However, that means they pushed the snow into my driveway.

So that means it’s time for a leisurely breakfast and then I’m going to attempt to run some miles later. I’m going to cross my fingers and hope the neighbor boy wants to make some money and will scoop our snow!

My dad works overnights and he had to walk home about 2 miles after the car went into the ditch. I’m just thankful he’s ok. They’ve closed parts of the interstate due to accidents. It’s scary out there. We’ve been pretty lucky lately and haven’t seen this kind of snow.

Stay safe friends!

“Ice, ice baby…”

I went running outside for the first time in awhile this morning. The weather and my schedule have not cooperated to make it happen lately. But today, the stars aligned. It’s gorgeous here. Nearly 50 degrees when I was done. But look at that extended forecast–the bottom is going to drop out Sunday when a cold front moves in. 40 degree temperature change! Ugh.

My one complaint during my run? My hometown got about 4 inches of Snow Saturday night, and so we had a white Christmas this week. That was great. But seriously, homeowners! It’s been nearly a week- get your crap together and scoop your sidewalks! I had to slow down and walk or tread lightly because people haven’t scooped and now there is ice mixed with the snow.  Cold weather running problems. Sigh.

I checked my DailyMile and I’m 7 miles away from 750 miles run for the year…so that’s my new goal. 4 days for 7 miles–barring any more illness! I’ve been slow this week since that stomach bug. My appetite isn’t 100% yet and I’ve been so tired. I’ve been grateful for this vacation time–I know I wouldn’t have felt like working! Serendipitous planning!

Today I’m going to go see “Saving Mr. Banks” with my ‘rents. Matinee pricing FTW! Have a great Friday everyone!

A beautiful Sunday morning snowfall.

My meteorologist roommate says it should end this afternoon. We have about 4 inches so far. I have to get out in it to go to work at Corky this afternoon. Ugh.

This morning I made cinnamon rolls for the roomies and I. The neighbor boy is scooping our driveway so I should just have to scoop off my car!

Now I’m in the Christmas spirit!

Do you ever get that feeling?

That restless, something isn’t quite right feeling? I’ve got it right now. Nothing is really wrong, just feeling kind of eh.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer.

I think it’s because:

1. I went out last night (that was fun! But I’m tired and didn’t get up and run this morning, so no endorphin rush.)

2. The outside of my mid to upper left leg aches. I don’t think its my IT band, it periodically does that when the weather changes and boy did it change today!

3. Its snowing. We’re supposed to get several inches of snow. Sounds like it may only be 5 inches. Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel is in Lincoln today. But we don’t appear to be getting the brunt of the bad weather. (side note: this storm is named “Q” and in Lincoln a lot of the major roads are Letter names, and so he is live on “Q” street! Good stuff.

This is what it looks like outside of the station today. Its still snowing, but lightly.

Today is my friend Keith’s birthday. We went out to karaoke last night because the weather was supposed to get bad today. You may remember my roomie is a Nebraska State Senator. She brought some of her State Senator, Lobbyist and Legislative Aid friends too. It was a good time.

I was talking to this guy who is a friend of my roomie’s and he told me that I had “amazing hair” and that I was very pretty. Made my day!

This is essentially what my haired looked like. Excuse the bathroom selfie.

I was talking with another friend of hers and he was quite the flirt. When he was leaving he kept hugging me and telling me how glad he was to meet me, that I was so much fun and awesome. Then his ride, a lobbyist I believe, came over and told him it was time to go. The ride said that they had room for two more. The guy I was talking to said, “me and another person, or room for me?” The lobbyist said, “room for the two of you!” I laughed and told them I had to go home. They told me I could come home with them! Oh my…

In other news, Over-Sexed-Scotty has not made contact again. I’m hoping that’s how THAT story will end! I will keep you all posted on my latest escapades. There is an update brewing… 🙂

Have a good day friends!

One of my reporters interviewed this woman early this morning (around 4am) about the crazy snowstorm we were having. Apparently, the person in the background didn’t want to be in the shot. They sat there, motionless, with their hood up. We decided he was the Grim Reaper.

I added the scythe with my mad Paint Skillz!

5 inches of snow today. Oddly enough, it’s still snowing AND the sun came out! Gotta love Nebraska! Moxy, this snow picture is for you!

The schools took a snow day, but the news doesn’t rest…darn it!

It’s supposed to be 45° on Saturday, so I’m not too worried that this will last.

Have a great day friends!

What a difference a few days make!

Saturday was perfect weather, 55 degrees, sunny and nice.

Yesterday, the bottom dropped out. 25 degrees and cold.

Today?

This is what it looks like out the backdoor at my TV station:

Its a pretty snow at least. Nice and fluffy.

In other news, I’m going to see Silver Linings Playbook tonight with a friend. Last night I went to Gangster Squad. That movie was Awesome! Very violent, but a great story. If you like those kinds of movies, go see it. You won’t be disappointed.

Happy Monday friends!

Chivalry isn’t dead!

While I was scooping the driveway this morning a man driving by saw me, stopped and used his snow blower to clear it in record time! He told me he stopped to help because I was a girl. He said if I had been a man, I’d have been on my own!

I was so glad he stopped! We got 6 inches of snow and it was the heavy, wet kind. I had finished a 6 mile run and decided to head out and clear the driveway and sidewalks for tonight’s End of the World Party when he stopped by. I had cleared the sidewalk and one lane in the driveway when he started helping me. It still took me an hour to help him and then clean off my car. Soooo glad he came by! Gotta love living in Nebraska! People still stop and help each other out.

In other news, any day where I can wear my running clothes most of the day is a winner in my book. When layering up for the shoveling this morning I switched my running capri’s for running tights and changed my short sleeve shirt for a long sleeved one, and then added jeans and a sweatshirt over that. I was nice and warm. Yeah buddy.

After some help, (thanks Melissa!) I’ve decided to wear jeans, a cute top and either boots or a cute pair of shoes tonight. It’s not quite time for a sparkly dress. Maybe new years?

Registration for the Lincoln Half Marathon is tonight at 12:01am. You better believe I have set an alarm on my phone so I can go register quick during the party! Hey! There’s only 8,000 spots and they will go fast!

Have a great night friends, and party like there’s no to-maya! 🙂

This forecast is quite specific; a blizzard is going to happen tonight at 11 pm. Should be fun. Can’t say I’ve even been in one before! Glad I’m safe and sound at home. The thing that sucks? I spent $200 on tickets for my parents and I to see Mannheim steamroller tonight. The show went on, but my parents would have had to drive in from out of town and drive home during those blizzard conditions. I said i would rather be out $200 than out two parents! It’s just money.

Also, and this is big news; I’m on VACATION until after Christmas! 6 glorious days away from work and Christmas at home with the family? I will take it! 🙂

Have a great night friends! Stay warm and safe!
