Vacation, The Dentist & Dating

I had an wonderful vacation last week. I shopped, relaxed, ran some, ate delicious food, slept in and spent time with my momma. It was nice and much needed.

Today, I’m back at it. Nose to the grindstone and all that. Mondays are always hard. Monday mornings even harder. And when you add in an 8am Dentist Appt? That can make your day suck.

However! No cavities! My Dentist is Hot and super nice so its not exactly a hardship to go see him. 🙂

In other news…there’s some good stuff in Dating Adventures with Melissa! It wouldn’t be my love life if there wasn’t something strange involved!

More after the break.

I had another 19 year old send me a message. He told me that he would be turning 20 in 6 months(!) and he would be moving to Lincoln for school then. He wanted me to “look past his age” because I seem “like an amazing woman.” And we apparently have a lot in common. Except that I was 12 when you were born. 12!!! Oy. Seriously? I ignored that one.

I met a guy for coffee before work last Tuesday (had to fit him into my very busy schedule somehow, no judgement!) and he has now become an obsessive texter. When I told him that I was going to be on vacation and going shopping last week he told me that he liked to shop and that I should send him some pictures of myself if I needed help deciding what to buy. Really dude? I’ve only known you for like a hot minute and you want me to send you pictures of myself? How about no?

Needless to say I did not send him pictures. He then texted me, wanting to know where his pictures where. I told him I loved everything that I bought and didn’t need any help deciding. He then told me that he wants to see me in my new clothes (I bought a bunch of spring and summer dresses) and that he wants to go running with me so he can see me in tight clothes! Awkward!! What do you say to that? He also said that I have to stay 3 steps in front of him so he has some motivation! Ugh.

I’m creeped out.

So there’s that. My older brother isn’t making it any easier on me; he and his wife have 3 little boys and he told me that I was “down by a field goal and it’s almost halftime.” Like I need any more pressure to find someone! Alternately, he also told me that I’ve dated half the city where we grew up! This is NOT true, but I’ve dated my fair share of men. You gotta kiss a lot of frogs, right?

Have a great day friends! 🙂

Today is my Friday!!

I’m off the rest of the week! I’m going shopping, relaxing and running. I plan on spending time with family and friends and supporting the economy.

These are the first days off I’ve had since the holidays–so they are very much needed! And in a few more weeks, I’m going to Denver for a long weekend with my BFF! Can’t wait!

Hope you all have a fantastic day friends!

Vacation miles are the best kind of miles!

I have a 4 day weekend. When I woke up this morning I knew I was going to run at least 5 miles, I wanted to try to run 7 miles and hoped I could run 9 miles. That would give me my 20 miles for the week, but I wasn’t sure I had it in me.

Apparently, I did! It’s amazing what a good night of sleep will do for you! I got to 8 miles and felt great so I kicked it up from 5.5 miles per hour to 6.0 miles per hour and cranked out the last 2 miles to get an even 10 miles today!

21 miles for the week baby! Beast mode engaged!

Here’s the stats: first 8 miles 10:54/mile. Last 2 miles 10:00/mile.

Now I’m heading out to Christmas shop!
Have a fantastic day friends!

I’m on vacation!

As of 5:45pm CDT, I’m off until August 5th! I’m so excited for a little time away! Work has really been draining this last 6 weeks or so.

I’m really excited for tomorrow…I’m going tubing down the river (despite the drought) with my morning anchor and her husband and some friends of hers. Its a 6 hour trip down the river. Basically, our inner tubes are tied together and we float down the river, drinking and eating whatever we bring! Sounds like a pretty fantastic Saturday!

At some point this weekend I have to run a half marathon. It may have to happen Sunday the way tomorrow is looking! Oh well, it will get done, I promise!

Next week, I plan on running, relaxing, sleeping, shopping, and spending A LOT of time in the pool!

Have a great weekend friends!

I’m baaack!

After a much needed long 5 day weekend with a whirlwind trip to Colorado for a friend’s wedding, I’m back! I was off the grid(ish) for 5 days and it was wonderful! I don’t think there is anyway I can catch up on my dashboard after so long, but I hope you all had amazing weeks!

I have some pretty awesome pictures to post. But for now, I have to get to bed…I’ve gotta run 4 miles in the morning!

Have a great night friends!

Vacation Recap

My vacation was pretty uneventful…until the end. But let’s not start there, let’s start at the beginning, shall we?

When I got to the campground Friday night, I decided I wanted to go for a run. I hadn’t run since Wednesday, and just felt the need to stretch my legs and enjoy the weather. I laced up my shoes and set off, no water belt, just me, my garmin and my ipod.

I seriously had the most amazing run of my life. I’m not kidding. We are talking legs/heart/breathing all working in sync. I was flying. I looked down at my watch and found I was running a 9:30 pace. This is huge for me! I ran my half marathon at a 12:20ish pace back in May. I have been working to get down to about a 10:30-11 minute pace during my regular morning runs. But that day was awesome! I felt so good.  You know that feeling when you are running and your feet and legs feel like they are disconnected from your body? That is how I felt. I was looking around at the campground and didn’t even feel like I was running. I ended up with 1.35 miles at a 9:57 pace. It was fantastic!

The rest of the week passed without a lot of drama…I only got to swim in the lake 3 days, because fall came to Nebraska early! It was cool, which made it perfect for my early morning runs. I ran about 16 miles last week. They were good miles too!

We also took an afternoon to go to a movie. I highly recommend Crazy Stupid Love. It was great!

Sunday morning when I woke up our camper was freezing!! The A/C had stuck on all night, and it was 58 degrees IN the camper. I didn’t want to get out of bed, but I decided it would be warmer to get up and run! So off I went.

All of my runs on vacation were great! I had such a great time, just relaxing and enjoying being with my family. I gained 2 lbs, but they’re almost gone!

Anywho, have a great day friends!

“Back to life, back to reality…”

…And I’m back! After a week of radio silence, aka-Vacation! I’m back. My vacation was pretty great, a full recap post on that is to come! Nothing too exciting, but it was really nice just to get the heck out of dodge and enjoy spending time with my family for a week!

I gained 2 pounds on this trip…I know I should be grateful, especially since I could have gained a lot more, but I ran most every day of vacation, so I am sure that helped.

Today I went back to work. Not really feelin’ it, you know? But here we are!

Anywho, have a great day friends!

Vacation!!!

I’m heading out of town for a week…spending my days in the lake, lounging around outside reading books, and going for nice long-unrestricted-by-time-runs. Bliss!

I need a chance to disconnect from work and the stress that goes along with it.

Happy Friday Friends!
