Today was the annual soup and Chocolate cook off at work. My contribution was ‘Better Than Sex (or Whoopee, as we’re being PC here!) Cake.

I won first place and dominated the chocolate category because “Sex always wins!” 😉

My co-worker’s son also gave me the carnation! Its been a decent Singles Awareness Day, all in all.

On the agenda for tonight? I’m going to run some miles, and watch Glee. I’m pleased with my plans.

The longer I’m single, the easier it is to stay that way.

I was having this conversation with a friend today. One of my co-workers is getting married in July. Wedding planning is stressing her out and listening to it is stressing me out. All of my other co-workers are in relationships. Either seriously dating or married. Our photographer and I are the only ones in the newsroom who aren’t dating. And he and I are just good friends. And during this week of Love (blech) I’m getting lonely.

But the longer I’m alone, the easier it is to be alone. I have my routine, things I like to do, and I can do them when I want. Because I don’t have to consider someone else’s feelings or wants. I just do what I want. And most of the time, I like it that way. But there are times that I don’t. That I want to have to check with someone before making plans.

Sigh.

I know I’m not the only one. This time of year is dangerous, isn’t it?
