So…yeah…

I thought I could sneak that in there! You guys don’t miss a thing, do you??

So remember the man friend I told you about earlier this month? Well, things are good. Really good. I’m talking relationship/boyfriend/girlfriend-kind of good here. It just kind of happened. I’m incredibly happy about it too. He introduced me as his girlfriend to a couple of people and while that word would normally send me spiraling into freak out and run away mode, but this time was different. It felt good, felt right. We talked about it later and agreed that yes, we’re in a relationship, I’m his girlfriend, and he’s my boyfriend. And instead of being totally freaked out, I’m good with it. Progress, people! 🙂

I don’t know what the future holds, but right now, I’m happy. It’s not hard. I’m not stressed out about him or texts or things like that. It’s easy with him. And I think that’s how it should be. 🙂

Also, Brooke-I will send you so many pictures! You probably need your own wand too, right??!! You know I will drink a butterbeer for you!

what days will brooke be here?

Victoria, Brooke, Ginni, and Becky will be here July 3rd-6th. Becky will be here until Monday also. We’re doing the Brownville Half Marathon in Brownville, NE with Holli. I think Lindsay is coming to spectate. We plan on a BBQ at my place–please come!!

5 Positive Things I Like About Myself

I was tagged by Ryan and I like lists so here goes nothing!

  1. I am a good listener. From people that I’ve just met to friends that I’ve known forever, they all tell me their deepest secrets and feelings. I like to think I can empathize and sympathize with them. I also try to listen with the intent to hear, not reply. There’s a big difference.
  2. I’m funny. My friends say I’m the funny one! I’m always quick with a joke to lighten the mood. Days are better spent laughing.
  3. I’m observant. I notice the details of things that most people miss. The hidden melodies in songs, the small details in pictures, things like that.
  4. I’m kind, caring and compassionate. I worry about my friends and family.
  5. I’m organized and punctual. You can’t do daily newscasts if you’re not! 🙂

I’m tagging Lindsay, Erin, Holli, Victoria & Brooke

A few things…

trivialbob said: If she is at the other TV station why isn’t she your enemy!

Bob-She’s so awesome, I could never be enemies with her! We just don’t talk news a lot. We talk about work, but not the news. Make sense?

happyhealthycook said: That absolutely rocks! Your muscles look amazing!

Thanks Melissa! I’m pretty proud of them! 🙂

katiegirlchasesinfinity said: Holy moly woman! Your arms are smoking!! I’m so impressed!

Thanks Katie! It has been so hard to do these every day, but totally worth in the end!

davidsgoals said: wait, were there pictires of the ladies butts hanging out of their skirts? If so, I need to offer an impartial opinion on this.

Yes David, there were several butts hanging out in front of me! And it was when I was not able to pass (too tired, needed to walk). Next year, come Run Omaha with me and you get perhaps get a peek at all the tushies like I did. 🙂

fit-food-fam said: in for peek-a-boo butts lol. Great job! 😀

Lol! Right? Thank you!

rachaelfightsback said: I hate having to pay for parking at a race! Great job though! You looked awesome in the pics you posted.

Rachael, I agree! I just don’t think it’s fair to charge for the race AND parking. I think they should let you park wherever on race day. And thank you so much!! 🙂

victoriafindslife said: I was so excited when we entered the ball park thinking were done. I was instantly PISSED that we were not and we had to run around that damn thing! I did like all the extras at the aid stations and how ofthen the aid stations were. I liked the shade
Victoria, exactly! I ran into the ballpark and said aloud “are you freakin’ kidding me?! Jerks. Everyone around me laughed. I walked around the ballpark. I just didn’t have much left. All the extras were nice, and the shade was great! That sun was warm!

Monday Check-In

This was a pretty fantastic weekend. ‘Nuff said.

I’m going to get froyo tonight with some of the lovely Lincoln Tumblr ladies. Its been way too long since we’ve gotten together. I’m excited to see them.

I only got about 4 hours of sleep Saturday night into Sunday (YOLO? Whatevs, I’m not sorry.) And so I was exhausted yesterday. I spent much of the day in a fog…lounging about. I even dozed off in the backyard while reading magazines in my lounge chair! When I was about to fall asleep at 6:45pm on the couch I knew it was time to go to bed. I was in bed at 8:00pm. Again, not sorry.

I haven’t run since Friday morning and a run isn’t looking too likely tonight. I’m strangely ok with it. I plan on 3-5 miles in the morning.

On the other side, I’ve lost about 4 pounds in the past few weeks. My appetite has been non-existant. Not wanting to eat means when I do eat I make good choices-and I don’t eat dessert! 🙂

Less than 2 weeks until football season! I’m pumped. Love me some Husker football.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and a wonderful Monday!

11 Questions-I was tagged by @Becky-Balances

1. Do you have a tattoo? If yes, post a pic. If no, what would you consider getting?

I do not have a tattoo. I’ve never wanted one. I don’t do pain and I’ve never found something that I would want on my body forever.

2. If you could see any band/artist in concert, who would you choose?

Justin Timberlake. I love love love him. I saw NSYNC in concert 3 times and Justin once, the last time he went on tour.

3. I’ve got two tickets to paradise. Where are we going?

Hawaii. Hands down. I was there in 2010 for 10 days and I never wanted to leave. It really is paradise. Blue skies, sandy beaches, crystal clear waters. It’s my definition of paradise. Let’s go!

4. What or who is your spirit animal?

Hmm. This one is hard. I’d say What would have to be a dog. I love them, all of them. Dogs are the best. Who-maybe my soulmate Bailee. She gets me. I like that about her.

5. What do you love most about your job?

I love that it is completely inappropriate at my workplace. I’m talking about we say and touch each other inappropriately and it’s fine. It’s always fine. I don’t know if I could work anywhere else. These people are my family. I also like that I can be very creative and nobody is constantly on my back about the news or content. I’m allowed to run my own show(s). For the most part!

6. Where is your happy place?

I have several: my parent’s pool. Just laying on my floatie, soaking up the sun, lazing away the afternoon. Or at Ft. Kearny State Rec area here in Nebraska. My family would go camping there every summer when I was a kid up through college. It has hundred year old cotton wood trees, gravel pit lakes and its calm, gorgeous and beautiful. I’m relaxing just thinking about it.

7. Book or movie?

Book. Hands down. I love reading. My library is enormous.

8. Time for some humblebragging…what’s your favorite personal accomplishment thus far?

That would have to be that I have successfully lost and kept off 150 pounds since October of 2011. It has been a hard journey but I am so happy and glad that I did. Totally worth it and the best thing I’ve ever done–even better than completing a Full marathon.

9. What are you looking forward to in the next month?

Well, in less than 24 hours I’m going to Fargo with Bailee, Brooke and Johnna. I’m pretty excited about that! Also, next week I start my new PT job at the Corky Canvas! I’m excited for that!

10. Do you have siblings?

I do, one older brother Chris. He’s 34.

11. What’s one of your favorite college memories?

It would have to be all the video projects that I made that starred my roommate. She was a good sport, and did things like jump off of dressers, just for the sake of my projects!

If you read this, consider yourself tagged. And since, I’m a little busy at work, I will just use the same questions!

Dinner with the Internet! From Left to right, Zac and Holli (Cupcakesandchaucer), Steph (stephsdoinglife), Me, Victoria (Victoriafindslife) Ben (Bendoeslife), Sarah, Riley and Lindsay (Lindsaydoeslife).

It was an epic Marathon weekend in Lincoln. Lindsay, Holli, Sarah and I ran the Half-Marathon (it was Holli’s first one!) and Lindsay and I both PR’d! And Ben and Victoria banged out a Full-Marathon with no training! Victoria hasn’t run in 3 months due to injury and Ben’s longest run in awhile was 6-8 miles! And we had the best cheerleader in Steph! She couldn’t run due to the registration cap at 10,000. Next year!

I got to finally meet Steph and Victoria and Ben! They all felt like old friends, right from the beginning.

I am exhausted. I can’t wait to sleep. I promise I will get that recap out soon! This race was pretty amazing and I don’t want to forget a thing!

Have a great week friends!

It all comes down to this…

I met and hung out with some amazing people today! I got to see Lindsay (lindsaydoeslife) and met Steph (stephsdoinglife) and Victoria (victoriafindslife), and Ben (bendoeslife)! Holli (cupcakesandchaucer) had to work, and the rest of the internet is meeting for another dinner now, but I live 45 minutes away from Lincoln and decided to go to bed early in my own bed tonight! I’m so sorry ladies! I’m very sad that I’m not there! You ladies are amazing people!

Tomorrow is half marathon number 2! I love running Lincoln. There is just something about running in on your home turf. Its a beautiful course and its mostly flat! Bonus!

I have so many people coming out to cheer me on, and I’m so grateful to each of them. If you would like to track me, just go here. My bib number is 7161 and my name is Melissa Lindell. My first half I just wanted to finish in under 3 hrs. I did it in 2:42:57. This one I’m hoping to not walk any of it and finish strong!

This has been a pretty great day, I hope tomorrow is just as amazing!

Have a good night friends!
