The sun came back!!!

So Rio and I had to go for a walk. Charlie was up in the night throwing up, so he stayed home and my boo is taking a nap.

Have you guys tried this brand of protein shake? I got it when we went to visit my future in-laws in Buffalo in March and my future MIL and I ran to Wegman’s. They are SO GOOD and this flavor doesn’t even taste like a protein shake. It’s smooth and creamy, and tastes like it would have way more than 130 calories in it! We don’t live near a Wegman’s either, but I ordered the coconut cream and green tea matcha and the chocolate truffle flavor on Amazon. The prime shipping was totally worth it on this one… The box was super heavy!

Also, I’m loving watching my Nebraska Huskers spring game on BTN. A new coach (former player Scott Frost who turned around UCF) and a rabid fanbase means this one is soldout. For a practice! Go Big Red!!🎈🌽

Spin class this morning, I trekked to my parent’s house this weekend and had lunch then went to get my hair did. It needed more red! 😊

That’s how you start a weekend, right? With a 30 mile bike ride??

The BF and I hit the trails and just kept going. Despite wearing padded shorts, my booty is sore, my back aches, and I’m exhausted.

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
(We made those faces because the BF accidently made a wrong turn and we ended up on the railroad tracks😒).

Scenes from a pretty great weekend.

In the past 3 days I’ve run a 5k each day. That may not seem like much, and to be honest it doesn’t seem like much to past Melissa, but since I’ve essentially let my running fall by the wayside these past four months, this WAS a big deal! The weather has been fantastic…sunny, warm, and not humid. I’m a fan.

Saturday night my former main anchor at the tv station held his annual fall party…complete with a fire pit and Smores! I really dig my flannel shirt, so you get to see it. #basicwhitegirl

I’m posing with a book and cut the author out of the photo…But she’s the teenage daughter of one of my former coworkers. She is a published author. At 17. What am I doing with my life?? That’s my dream! Why am I not doing it?? Deep thoughts with Melissa.

This girl has a 7 book deal, because this is a series. I’ll let you know how the book is, but it sounds good. You can get it on Amazon.

I’m going to relax and enjoy the evening. I hope you all do too!!

What. a. weekend.

My friend’s wedding reception was in an outbuilding that they literally built within the last 9 days on a piece of property they own. We sat next to the air conditioning and obviously I needed this photoshoot to happen!
The groom and I. He’s a doll. Good friend and businessman. I hate doing the video editing for him, but I love the paycheck that comes with it!
The wedding favors were customized stemless wine glasses. What a great idea! It was the first favor I actually took home from a wedding. Maybe I took two! No judgement!
They had fans as a part of the centerpieces. I’m a ham. This picture happened.
I nearly had a heart attack today. I took the dogs out and noticed that they ran to one specific corner. I went to investigate and found out how Rio has been getting out. She did it right in front of me! This time she took off down the block and into the street. Cars stopped, I was screaming and chasing after her. People scattered because she’s a big dog, even though I told them she was friendly and to grab her collar. We went around the corner and crossed another busy street. A man and his 2 sons finally caught her. I don’t think I’ve ever run that fast in my life. Adrenaline, man. I was shaking when I grabbed her and swatted her butt. She laid down and refused to get up. I’m sure everyone enjoyed THAT show. After that, I took rope and wove the hole shut. When I let her out later she ran right to it and was very surprised to see her escape route gone. Ai yi yi.
The bf was snapchatting us after and told me he missed us. So I sent that back. His reply? “Aww! There’s my ladies!” and “only 4 more sleeps!” You guys. My cold, dead heart just melted a little bit more. 🙂
I made that collage with the photos from my bff’s wedding. I bought a $5 frame at Wal-Mart and taped the pictures onto the back of the paper that was inside it. It’s certainly not perfect…not even really straight…but it works for me! I’m easy to please.
And lastly, after the craziness that ensued today I decided it was a TREAT YO’ SELF moment and got a mani/pedi. That color is called “Fabulous”! At one point, one lady was doing my toes and another was doing my nails. I felt like a Princess!!

For once, I don’t have the Sunday Sads…I’m so excited to be reunited with my bf Thursday morning that I don’t even mind that Monday is roaring closer like a freight train! Come at me, bro!

Hello Spring Temperatures!

Good things on this Friday:

I get to see one of my besties tonight! It has been 2 months since I last saw her. Far too long considering she’s only 45 minutes away from me.
It is GORGEOUS here. We’re flirting with the lower 70’s next week. I’m a real big fan. I met a former co-worker downtown over lunch to pick up some things from her and the walk there was amazing. I didn’t want to come back to work.
With daylight savings and the nice weather next week I plan on doing all of my runs outside! The treadmill can suck it.
I’m currently listening to anyone I can youtube Greatest Hits Albums. The music has rapidly gone downhill as I’ve gone with the bands they’ve suggested. I have listened to a lot of lite pop/rock from the 70’s and 80s today. Good stuff.

Scenes from a pretty good weekend (and Monday so far!)

I went to the Husker game on Saturday with My mom and her friend and my friend. Good times. My Huskers won. It was a gorgeous day.
At the game, during kickoff, students and a lot of other people in south stadium take off their shoes. This hardcore fan took it one step further and took off his prosthetic leg! Dedication, man.
It was a warm one Sunday! 84 degrees on October 26th?!? What is this? I went for a very warm run in the “heat” of the day. I regretted it almost immediately.
Today I had my 6 month dental check up–No cavities!! And then, Since I’ll be out of town during the election next week, I went to vote early. I had to, my former roomie (The state Senator) is running for State Auditor! She got my vote!

Friiii-day!

The I’m-spending money-like-I-have-it Edition.

I bought a new cell phone today. I’ve been eligible to upgrade since January. I like my Droid Razr. I’m fairly resistant to change. BUT the battery won’t make it through the day and I need something more reliable. So I bought a Samsung Galaxy S5. I hope it’s as awesome as people say. I hate spending money.
I’m taking my nephew to the Husker football game tomorrow. Should be fun. He’s nearly 8 years old and loves Husker football. I’ve already got him drinking the Kool-Aid. Love that kid. But those tickets will still cost me a chunk of change.
Tonight I’m going to Omaha for the First Friday walks in Benson. I’m pumped. I really can’t spend any more money because I have to remember that I don’t get paid every 2 weeks anymore. This once a month thing is going to be hard to get used to.
Busy weekend ahead. I’m already tired.
