Well now…

So my goal of 20 miles per week is not going to be reached this week. I’m so close; 17 miles for the week. I can’t blame anyone but myself. And honestly I’m not that sad about it. I couldn’t get up and run Friday morning, I was too tired. So I decided I would run a few miles Friday night-seeing as I had no plans for the evening. So I eked out 2 miles on the treadmill before I called it quits. I don’t do evening runs. Its either early morning or nothing at all for me.

I did 5 miles on Saturday and then headed into work. It was hot here yesterday–80 degrees! But today? Its only 34 degrees! Gotta love Nebraska!

So the new plan is to try to make up some of those miles this week…the only good thing is that there are 7.5 weeks left in the year. So if I had to make up some miles that last half week should let me do it.

I’m taking my nearly 6 year old nephew to see “Wreck it Ralph” today–I think I’m more excited than he is!

Hope you all have great days friends!

Everybody’s workin’ for the weekend…

There is just something so delicious about Fridays. They hold the promise of what a weekend could be. And Friday afternoons? Forget about it. I love those the most! Yes, I’m still at work, and yes I’m counting down the minutes until 5:45pm when I can peace out for 2 days.

I have a busy weekend scheduled, I’m pretty excited to begin tapering for the Lincoln Half-Marathon!

I hope you all have a great weekend friends!

My weekend starts Now!

I don’t get any extra days off for Easter…the news doesn’t sleep! But I’m so glad its Friday. Its gorgeous outside, I have fun plans filling my entire weekend, and a 12 mile run scheduled for Sunday where its supposed to be 72 and sunny. No wind!

Like the song says, “sometimes, I get a good feelin.’”

Life is good friends! Have a fantastic weekend!

Painting and Wine? Don’t mind if I do!

Tonight my girlfriends from the station and I are doing something I’m super excited about: we are painting and drinking wine! There is an actual place here to do this called The Corky Canvas. They teach you how to paint a picture (everybody does the same one) and you get to drink wine. Sounds like a good time to me! Even though I’m not much of a wino!

After that, we are all going out to our favorite bar/lounge. There’s a band and dancing. It should be a good time.

Have a great night friends!

Today is a good day

There are some days when you wake up and just know its going to be a good day. Today was one of those days.

After a breakfast of pancakes and eggs I watched the Nebraska-Penn St. game with my family. Its been a week of scandal and off the field drama at Penn St. But my Huskers persevered and won the game 17-14! (It came down to the last second!!)

After that, I set off on a run, outdoors style. Its been awhile since I’ve run outside. 3 weeks to be exact. That run sucked. I couldn’t get the breathing and running to get in sync. Today’s run?

Fan-freakin’-tastic!

I wanted 5 miles, hoped for a 5k but would settle for 4 miles. I was not trying to set any land-speed records today. I just wanted to get back out there and run. And I did. My pace was all over the place, 12:20ish to 9:55 before I finally settled in at a 10:45 pace. I took walk breaks. I didn’t beat myself up for them. Instead, I just enjoyed the run.

At the point where I can turn off for a 5k or can keep going for 4-5 miles, I was so close to turning. But, then I thought about everyone who was running a half-marathon today. And all the people who can’t run, for whatever reason. And I kept going. I tackled the two big hills on the route and decided that 4 miles would be enough for the girl who had barely run in 4 weeks.

I felt alive! What a good run, an amazing run. Time to think, clear my mind and just enjoy the world around me.

I was deep in thought and concentrating on my music when a car full of teenage boys drove past me, yelling “whoo-hoo!” out the window at me. I actually jumped! Made me feel good though! You don’t get that on the treadmill, do you?!

And, as I have told you in the past, my back has been bothering me for months! Today? No pain! It was wonderful!

Tonight, I am hanging out with one of my best friends, Candace. I haven’t seen her in awhile, so it is much needed girl time. She always knows how to help me put things in perspective.

Anywho, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend friends!

Busy, busy

Can I have a weekend from my weekend?  It was a good weekend, all in all. Friday night after my movie date with myself I went out with some of my friends. We ended up having a good time. When we got to the bar, my friend R and I were standing waiting for our other friend to get money out of the ATM when I saw 2 olderish guys (late 30’s?) approaching us. They both touched me on the arms, and told us that they thought we looked “fun.” And that they thought we were fun. When the guy asked who was the more fun one, I told him R was. Because upon closer inspection these guys were closer to 50 than 30. We told them we were going to meet our friends, and they said that they “would watch us.” Kinda creepy.

Friday night was fun, got to see a friend I haven’t seen for awhile and meet her new bf. Then Saturday I got up and went for a run. Nothing big, just a good run. Then I went to work and produced our Husker post game show. I was out by 7pm.

Sunday was AWESOME! I went to see the Broadway musical “Jersey Boys”. It was AMAZING!!!! I didn’t want it to be over! So good. We had fabulous seats too: they covered the orchestra pit and put 2 rows there, and we were in the second row on the orchestra pit. We could see the sweat run down their faces! Such a good show! Also, on the way up to Omaha for the show, I got a 45 minute nap in. The last time I took a nap was January of 2010 when I came home from Hawaii and fell asleep in the car on the way home from the airport. It was the best nap ever! I felt so refreshed afterwards.

So next week, the Nebraska-Wisconsin game is on ABC, 7pm telecast. I’m guessing its a national broadcast. I get to work that day too.

I got up this morning and went for a run. Sadly, it was too dark for me to feel comfortable running outside, so I treadmill-ed it. 3.25 miles, 10:54 pace. Not too shabby. It was a pretty great run. One of those where everything is working in concert. I was happy. Good way to start the day!

Anywho, have a great day friends!

Meh.

Today has been, kind of ehhhhh. If don’t know if it is due to the weather. (Its cold, 49 degrees, grey and rainy.) Or if its due to the fact that I have to work tomorrow for the Husker football game. (Someone has to produce our post game shows!) Or if its because of a certain man and a lack of communication. I’m not sure. I’ve been a crabby appleton today.

So I’m doing something about it: I can’t control the weather, but I can wear an adorable new husker hoodie! I have to work tomorrow, but I can go for a run in the morning before work. I can’t control this man, or his communicating, but I can control my reaction. I’m going out tonight and plan on having a great time! I’m not in a relationship, and therefore I’m going to have fun!

So, seeing as no one wanted to go see the movie “Midnight in Paris” with me, I’m taking myself to the movies! I’m a good date! I promise! Then, I’m going out with my girlfriends!

I shouldn’t complain about being alone. I had 2 offers for dates within 10 minutes tonight! There are 2 guys who are the reason why I don’t appear on facebook chat. Everytime I’m on, they talk to me and are a bit creepy. So I just don’t appear. Today, I was on chat and they BOTH chatted me up! One wanted to go out tonight, and the other wanted to take me to a soccer game in Kansas City for the weekend! Um, no thanks?!

Anywho, have a good weekend friends!

5K Friday

I finally did it! Today’s 5k pushed me over the edge on my miles for the year…and I hit 300 miles! That’s since I began training for the half-marathon in January. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into those miles. Today’s 5k time also may have been a new PR for a 5k. When I ran my first one back in October it was 39:15. My 5k split time in the half-marathon was 37:22–I was pacing for 13.1 miles, not trying to bust out a record time. But today, I got on the treadmill and just ran! It was way too muggy at 6:30am for me to feel like a run outside could be conquered.

I’m attempting the great outdoors again tomorrow though! I miss the wind, sun and nature! Tonight, my work friends and I are going out for drinks and good times! (Although I don’t really drink!) Water is good!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
